Medical Eye Exam
A Medical Eye Exam is for conditions affecting the eye caused by diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, eye infections, cataracts, macular degeneration, dry eye or sudden loss of vision.
Medical eye exams are billed to your medical insurance plan.
Testing for these conditions often requires dilation drops or other procedures performed in the office like:
Digital Retinal Photography- Our Optos camera takes a 180 degree wide-angle digital picture of the back of the eye. This allows recording and comparing of any abnormalities in blood vessels, retinal and nerve tissue.
Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) – An Optovue scan uses a laser to measure the thickness and layers of the macula and optic nerve tissue, assisting in early detection of macular degeneration and glaucoma.
Visual Field testing –Our Humphrey Visual Field analyzer measure central and peripheral visual fields for restrictions in field of view brought on by medical conditions or trauma affecting the retinal nerves.
Biomicroscope (Slit Lamp) – Allows us to take magnified examination of the eyelids, front of the eye, cornea, iris, intraocular lens and retina and to digitally record abnormalities.
